Here is my promised reply.
I am particularly keen to hear what all of you have to say about our Dev Token request per below.
IMVU has experienced significant growth in user numbers since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many of you noticed this as well when you checked the “people online” on the IMVU Classic Client and consistently saw concurrent user counts beyond 125,000. As a result, we’ve had the high quality problem of needing to purchase more servers to accommodate this explosive growth.
This explosive growth has led to many more new users joining IMVU. A new user account typically starts with 4,000 Promotional Credits.
As a result this has led to more Promotional Credits being circulated into the IMVU economy and per the Creator comments in this discussion some have noticed a rise in Promotional Credits being used to purchase their products.
We believe this explosive growth is why some of our Creators noticed more Promotional Credits being used to purchase their products.
Thus, we do not believe the promotional offers mentioned in this post have significantly impacted Creators. The overall amount of Promotional Credits given from these purchase offers are minuscule in comparison to the total number of monthly Promotional Credits being circulated into the IMVU economy.
However, this doesn’t dismiss the statements made by our Creators that they are frustrated with their options in using their Dev Tokens.
We are keen to find ways to grow IMVU for the benefit of our mutual customers.
Let’s look at what Dev Tokens can be used for in the IMVU economy.
Typically Dev Tokens can be used to
Reduce submission fees for a Creator’s products (not derivation fees).
Reduce or eliminate the cost of a Creator’s shoutouts.
Pay for some or all of a Creator Ad. These are not an option for many Creators as each ad is going to cost 50,000 or 100,000 Dev Tokens.
Purchase IMVU swag, gift Dev Tokens to other Creators or contribute to charities driven by IMVU. A recent example would be when Creators made bids and purchases of the IMVU Creator Cards. Such options tend to be rare and time sensitive before the opportunity ends.
As we can see there’s a gap for Creators in the middle with a respectable number of Dev Tokens. They do not have quite enough to spend on a Creator Ad but they have more than enough to reduce their submission fees and thus have accrued a surplus of Dev Tokens, possibly in the thousands.
We’d like our Creators to help us brainstorm more possibilities for Dev Tokens that would be agreeable to them as well as IMVU.
Please share your ideas constructively in this conversation.
Please note that since Promotional Credits are an enticement for new users to try shopping, turning Promotional Credits into cash is not something we can give serious consideration to at this time.
Thank you.
Best,
Shannon

@Suchie @Nums @Ori - I have passed along your concern to the proper team.
@BunnyCakes - I don't want to hijack this post so I have moved my request about Dev Tokens over to a new post in the Suggestion Category.
Best,
Shannon
