Re: What's your favorite screen/video capture program?
I switch between Lightshot (To simply copy my screen, for pasting into GIMP or Photoshop) and Gyazo (For uploading to the web). To be honest, I do not know why I even keep Gyazo other than the ease of occasionally needing to capture a quick .gif. Snagit is also pretty awesome and has some great features but from what I remember, it was a bit of a pain to set up. It also seems to be a bit of a resource hog for what most would use it for. If you want simple, easy, and lightweight, Lightshot is your capture program for sure. If you are looking for more in-depth video capture, I believe Snagit has pretty good support for that. Gyazo Pro allows for up to 60 seconds in .gif format but Snagit allows to record sound and such.
(Oh also, Gyazo limits you to only a few of your snapshots in history unless you buy their service. Pro or whatever. Lightshot, if you link your google account to it, the images seem to stay there, and easy to access for a long time. I still have images saved that I can go back and get from 2 years ago.)
(The benefit of Lightshot is right when you take a snapshot before you upload it you have access to paint shop style tools, to draw and write on your image before uploading. It can make things handy for adding information, or even censoring names out of the images http://prntscr.com/eh61ol )

MWSnap for quick screen captures. Neat and simple. http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html
The closest I do to anything video is animated gif. I have an old version of Jasc Animation shop for that. (I'm sure it is available *somewhere* on the internet but I'm not sure where as it's very old school.) There are probably a lot better things for making animated gifs now.

Something else I found over on Lifehacker. This looks promising but looks to do no video.

Re: What's your favorite screen/video capture program?
I use this website http://puush.me/
Mostly because I gave up on Lightshot and Gyazo. There are times in Lighshot where I would get errors on the picture not showing up or loading properly, then it would be okay the next day. It is starting to become unreliable. I use sims so when ever I press ctrl/shift/c it loads up gyazo instead of the cheat prompter, so it is kind of annoying. Although I do like the feature where it stores your pictures if you need them for later.
With puush.me software ShareX, its basically like Lightshot. I even have the option to blur and pixelate a portion of screencapture, among other features. In the settings you can select if you want your picture to save in your computer or just automatically uploud to the website, where it saves there as well. Not to mention that it lets you choose what the key commands are.
For gif making, I just use GifCam. It is a really simple software that is easy to use.

Re: What's your favorite screen/video capture program?
To capture screen shots I just push the prnt screen button on my keyboard then ctrl+v or paste into whatsoever art program I'm using for manipulation .
Not really sure why anyone would use an external site or install a program to do that , most art programs also do the same thing . . A lot of the times when you do use external sites for pic storage they will uhmm whats the word . . To save space distort your pic by changing its uhmm quality ? Sorry its too early to be here obviousilly
. .
To capture video I use hypercam which allows you ( probably like most any other similar proggy ) to set the screen area you want to record with a drag n drop , frame rate , sound or not and so on . Its very simple fast and lightweight . http://www.hyperionics.com/
( a tip there for hypercam if you get the free version it will have a hc logo in the top corner so by recording an extra quarter inch above where you want then when you edit the video can cut that part out )
To edit video I use a lot of different things like to convert the videos when needed either hand brake or any video converter ( that is the name of it not any as in the word any ) , animation shop and vdub ( virtualdub ) .
A gif is a gif so besides effects which it has more than enough of I doubt anything new program " better " wise would impress me enough to change proggys for gifs . Main reason I prefer JASC over adobe or anything else is being light weight it fires up instantly with no wait time whatsoever and the time I save clicking tabs & menus alone is worth it .

I use JASC PSP and animation shop too being light weight , free , fast , user friendly ( simple to use ) and incredibly realiable .SqkyC wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2017 9:52 amMWSnap for quick screen captures. Neat and simple. http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html

Re: What's your favorite screen/video capture program?
Lightshot is my go to for general screen captures, mainly because its fast and convenient.
For videos I have been using Techsmiths Camtaisia for years, it is far superior than anything else on the market and is totally worth the investment.
For capturing screen gifs I found this gem which is awesome https://screentogif.codeplex.com/

Re: What's your favorite screen/video capture program?
I use lighshot for just screenshots for stuffs like WIPs/Previews/quick save images and stuff when im too lazy to save a PNG.
For actual video i use OBS Studio, and either stream with Tigerdile or Picarto through that, or edit it with Wondershare Filmora to post to youtube or facebook for speedpaints or tutorial videos.
Some free screen sharing stuff you can try is Joinme or Teamviewer, and while i prefer Teamviewer myself, Joinme is simple to use but has a cap on viewer size.

For screenshots Gyazo is the best for me. UnFREEz for gif, which is very very simple and fast to use

Re: What's your favorite screen/video capture program?
I used to use a combo of Hellstrong's Screenie (was free, but I think the site is down now) and Gif Animator (not free, came with my purchase of Photo Impact Pro years ago)
I no longer have screenie though, it died with my laptop. Right now I'm just using whatever I can find plus Gif Animator.

Re: What's your favorite screen/video capture program?
BandiCam is a wonderful Video Capture of your Monitor there is a free version with the brand name located at the top of your video and the pro version without the brand name showing in the video. It works wonderful for demos of your animated products as well as other things you do on imvu like Dance clubs and events you want to record and send copies to others who have participated in the event.
You can also look for CamStudio which is also free but is not as good as BandiCam.
I suggest if you do decide to download one of these to find the most current version available and make sure you follow install instructs.
You can google them both but finding the best version is up to you.

Re: What's your favorite screen/video capture program?
I have a licensed Bandicam. I have tried the other screen capture tools such as Fraps but I wouldn't switch Bandicam to anything else now - it's still updated, slim and very light running, causing practically zero lag. The FPS overlay in games as has always shown very high numbers when Bandicam is running, much higher than it even needs in it's highest settings.
Though if you're using the game sounds in the final edit, just be sure to change the capture sound settings to match whatever video editing app you're using.
